History Of Scotland's
Amateur Internations Show Jumping

The Scottish Amateur Inter-Nations Showjumping was an idea first conceived in Scotland by a group of enthusiastic riders from North East Fife Riding Club, who were invited to compete at the famous Ballivor Horse Show in Ireland, for the prestigious Irish Amateur Nations Cup.

Whilst in Ireland, the Scottish riders were third overall and it was observed that there were just as many, if not more riders like ourselves, where the majority competing had full-time jobs and enjoyed their showjumping as a hobby.

The amateur class in Ireland was very well attended and provided a niche for these riders to compete within their "comfort zone" ranging from 1.10m to 1.30m.

Since returning from our trip in 1997, the Scottish Amateur Committee has staged annual events at Dabbs Arena, Fife.
This involves inviting riders and their horses from all over the world to compete in the Amateur Championships of Scotland, and have subsequently received invitations back to Ireland, Wales, England, Germany, Holland and Portugal.

The idea behind the Scottish Amateurs is that like minded people of similar ability can compete at National and International level and have the chance to compete abroad for their country. That apart, we all have so much fun at these competitions and have subsequently made many, many friends, at both home and abroad competitions.

So for all show jumping amateurs out there, why not come along and join in the fun at the Dabbs show and activity centre in June 2002.

We are sure to have a class to suit you and your horses ability!

A special Good Luck to all!
