Show Jumping Stallions lines Triumph!

holland show jumper foal mare

Devon Leisure Equestrian Center 2001

Scottish Breeders turned out to present a superb collection of this years foals to members of the public at this years first time ever sport horse, North of The Border Foal Show. Stock bred from Internationally renown stallions were well represented and Mr. Johan Knaap from Holland's KWPN was very impressed with the standard of the foals presented to him. He stated that this was not his first time in Scotland and that since his first visit several years ago the quality of the young stock as a whole had most definitely improved.

Foals within their relevant class were assembled in the collecting ring and were called forwards to be judged individually in the order presented in a well presented catalogue. The foals were shown n hand and then asked to be presented loose to assess the foal's movement. Their dams were brought in when felt it was necessary. foal

knaap foal An Educational Experience!

Once all of the foals from the class had been presented to Mr. Knaap, they gathered together once more to receive their placing and Mr. Knaap briefed the audience.

Both breeders and the audience found this to be an educational experience and appreciated the attentive comments made by Mr. Knaap.

Second in the line up was Nancy Orr's Halbeath Anastasia.

Jurius, Ulla's sire is by the renowned stallion Nimmerdor, by Farn. Her grand sire on the dams line Edison, is competing successfully in the USA and is by Notaris, a producer of many international show jumpers.

Although International show jumpers are prolific on both her parents lineage, Ullapool showed great presence and movement, enough to inspire Mr. Knaap to award her first place in both the filly's class and the over all championship.

Potential buyers were keen to bid for this fine filly during the auction and Mr. Donaldson finally let her go for £4800 to Mr and Mrs Low Mitchell of Balcormo stud where she is assured a to have a successful career...

Halbeath Anastasia, (above) came second in the line up, this powerful but charming filly also had some excellent lines on both sides. An excellent result for Miss Doreen Alisson owner of Accondy, Halbeath's sire, out of Acecox, a Stonegrove Ace mare, Stonegrove Ace is also owned by Mrs Allison of Summerhill Stud.

olympic calvaro tornado first choice stallion stone grove aceThird place went to an Olympic Calvaro filly Calvaro's Ace, Calvaro owned by First choice Stallions and competed by John Whitaker in the Olympic games in Sydney 2000. Calvaro's Ace is also out of a Stonegrove Ace mare, Hampton's Grove. Bidders were keen to purchase Calvaro stock, reaching bids of up to up to £7800 for several of the Calvaro and Tornado young stock but breeders held on, knowing that these were Scotland's potential future International champions!

1st place in the colts section went to John and Penny Mansfield's Sexy Rexy best colt at this years Scottish Sports Horse grading. Both Sexy Rexy's sire and dam are successful show jumpers, the sire being Luidam out of a stunning imported mare Easy Touch by Guidam son of World Famous and sire of great sport horses, French stallion Quidam De Revel!

2nd place went to T Earl Flyne, sired by Tornado FCS by Show jumper sire Nimmerdor. Earl Flyn's dam is currently a grade B show jumper again bids went high for this athletic colt but not quite high enough for Mrs. Taggart to part with him.

mare foal young stock qualityMr. and Mrs. Low Mitchell's Jurius colt took a well deserved third place. Urique was awarded a first premium at the Scottish ports Horse Grading. He was the first bred from a Secundus mare by Jurius and therefor has excellent bloodlines on both the sides and could possibly be future stallion material. His Dam Frantique is also a first premium Ster Mare and full sister to Hectique the grade A show jumper with which Sandra Low Mitchell has had so much success.. Frantique is out of a Moniquea, a wonderful dam to many competition horses. She gained a Sport Horse Predicate of Prest in recognition of the performance results of her offspring. Frantique was never broken due to an injury as a youngster but has bred many well graded foal and useful competition horses. Urique's sire Jurius was a well know show jumper by Nimmerdor brought up through the grades by Show jumper Andrew Hamilton qualifying for Wembley before being exported to Holland to compete on the International circuit.Jurius now gelded still competes successfully by Tina Fletcher.

Urique was brought forwards to auction and was sold for £5400!

All in all a successful show and some excellent sales for Scotland's breeders. It is hoped that due to it's success the show will go ahead again next year. So don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to purchase a possible future star. Should you be interested in any of the stock that was not sold please contact:
